Wait... well, whatever.
I have shared a tiny bit about obesity in America in reference to prevention via breastfeeding, because our formative food experiences shape our preferences right from the start. While working on some posts for next week, I came across this infographic on serving size in America, which highlights more of the cause for America's obesity epidemic.
It is within all of our reach to control ourselves when it comes to making choices- what we eat and how much are choices, just the same as jumping off a bridge to follow a friend would be. Think for yourself! You don't need to eat until you feel "full" or feed your baby 8 ounces of formula because she or he "can finish it". Bottle fed babies- even if fed pumped breastmilk- show less appetite "self-regulation" later in infancy, due to lack of portion control from the get-go.
It's all related!
Check out this nifty infographic an see how America -literally- tips the scales when it comes to food.

Your stomach is approximately the size of your fist. It expands when full to the size of your extended fingers. If what you're eating won't fit in one hand, it's probably too much!

I've been reading about making diet changes lately: I've been stuck in my grief process after losing my father to Melanoma in 2010 and I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired; it's time for a change! So far, I'm reading up on eating Paleo, childhood obesity and simplifying life in general.
Have you stumbled across any recent health discoveries or made any conscious dietary changes for you and your family? I want to know! Tell me in the comments or join the conversation everyday on Facebook.

Great post! I love John Robbins and the Super Size Me film. There are a few others that speak to me such as Forks Over Knives and Earthlings. I've been a vegetarian for about 23 years and while it wasn't always pretty (lots of bad things are animal free)I've been inspired to clean up my eating recently. Now that I am training for my second full marathon I have been really cutting out processed foods and eating more whole foods. It takes some work and planning...but I am finding that it is worth it.
